There are many writing and writers blogs out there, and lots of them are full of wonderful advice based upon the writing experiences of the blogger in question, peppered with handy writer’s resources and often written in a dry and witty manner (see my favourite writing blogs). They are a joy to read.

I have come to the conclusion however, that a number of them are simply not for me. Not that they’re badly written (why would they be?) but more because of the tired  assumptions they continue to make.

Sometimes I feel like I’m just playing at being a writer. I’m far from prolific and sometimes I have to drag the words kicking and screaming from my brain, not like some of my good friends who update their blogs regularly with interesting stuff. I sit here thinking: what can I write? And then decide that no-one gives a crap about what’s inside my head so I’ll go and play Blood Bowl (remember that all you GW nerds?)

Time to scrape myself clean….

So I did it. I wrote 50,000 words in 30 days and my lack of activity on this very blog serves to highlight how much of my life it took up. Between the daily grind of work, the washing up and NaNoWriMo, there was little to time to eat or bathe, and I sat unshaven in a pile of my own excrement during November.
